Surrey Police have started a saddle marking scheme. This embosses a serial number "Surrey Police" and a phone number onto a saddle flap. The registered owner's details are held on our crime information data base, this is linked to the crime report if it is stolen. The owner also gets a registration document. As far as I have been able to ascertain this is the only scheme in the country to which the Police have 24/7 access.
