Arena Mirror Safety
Take care when working in arenas that have mirrors installed.
The glass will break if hit hard enough. Below are a few pointers to help avoid
accidents:
- Introduce young or inexperienced horses to mirrors slowly.
Let them work out what the mirrors are.
- Lunge your horse as far away from the arena mirrors as
possible.
- Set the track away from the mirrors using jump poles or
dressage boards until your horse is happy with the mirrors.
- Don't jump too closely to mirrors.
- Do not let your horse touch the mirror to check it out.
Parts of a lunge cavesson or double bridle could break the glass.
